DaLyah is a seventh-generation Afro-Texan born and raised behind the “Pine Curtain ” of rural Deep East Texas. Jones is a movement journalist– journalism in service of liberation–, community engagement consultant and journalism philanthropy program officer. She has a passion for challenging the status quo in traditional journalism and highlighting the distinctive experiences of BIPOC communities. Her work has been aimed at providing journalism to historically overlooked communities in the Lone Star State, especially in the rural eastern region. Her reporting, producing and writing can be found in publications and platforms like KUT Austin, Texas Standard, Two&Fro podcast, NATAL podcast, Texas Observer, Texas Monthly, NBC Think, OkayPlayer, and Texas Highways Magazine.
